Business Analyst (Global Commercial Operations)

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with global Commercial Operations SMEs, Data Engineers, Data Scientists, and Product Managers to lead business analysis activities aligned with product and engineering objectives.
• Become a domain expert in Commercial Operations data and AI technologies by supporting the development and sustainment of features within Amgen's Quality System.
• Lead voice-of-the-customer assessments to identify business process improvements and define detailed product requirements.
• Define scope, business value, and feasibility for new product developments in collaboration with Product Managers and business stakeholders.
• Partner with Product Management and Engineering to prioritize backlogs and release scopes.
• Ensure both functional and non-functional requirements are captured and addressed in the Product and Release Backlogs.
• Facilitate the breakdown of Epics into Features and Sprint-Sized User Stories; participate in refinement and backlog reviews with development teams.
• Author clear and concise user stories with well-defined acceptance criteria and definitions of done.
• Work closely with Business SMEs, ML Engineers, and Data Scientists to understand data product requirements, KPIs, and data sources.
• Analyze source systems and contribute to the development of Source-to-Target Mapping (STTM) documents.
• Deliver internal and external product demonstrations to support alignment and adoption.
• Maintain accurate documentation related to configurations, workflows, and system/process changes.
• Understand the design and function of end-to-end data pipelines, including dataflow logic.
• Diagnose data issues using knowledge of data structures and collaborate with Data Engineering for resolution.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate degree in a relevant field.
• 12 to 17 years of experience in global Commercial Operations Information Systems.

Must-Have Skills:

• Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on AI and data-driven challenges
• Agile development methodology experience (Scrum)
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management, including senior leadership interaction
• Proficiency in writing user stories and acceptance criteria using agile tools like Jira
• Experience with PI Planning, roadmap creation, and user journey definition

Good-to-Have Skills:

• Expertise in data and analytics technologies and systems
• Understanding of software governance, architecture, and infrastructure for data platforms
• Familiarity with low-code/no-code test automation tools
• Exposure to DevOps, CI/CD practices, and Jira Align
• Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business language
• Experience with NLP and text/sentiment analysis

Technical Skills:

• Knowledge of cloud-based data platforms (e.g., Databricks, Redshift, AWS S3)
• Understanding of design patterns, data structures, and test-driven development
• Hands-on experience with cloud environments, especially AWS
