BMD Technician

As a BMD Technician at Santiniketan Medical College & Hospital (SMCH), you will be an integral part of the Radiology team, contributing to the early diagnosis and monitoring of osteoporosis and other bone-related disorders. Your role will involve operating specialized Bone Mineral Density (BMD) scanning equipment, such as DEXA machines, to conduct diagnostic procedures. Here are the key responsibilities and qualifications for this position: Key Responsibilities: - Operate Bone Mineral Density (BMD) scanning equipment like DEXA machines to perform diagnostic procedures. - Prepare patients for the scan by explaining the procedure, answering queries, and ensuring accurate positioning. - Monitor equipment performance, conduct routine maintenance, and calibration following protocols. - Analyze scan data, generate accurate reports, and submit findings to consulting physicians. - Maintain detailed patient records, update hospital databases with scan results, and relevant notes. - Follow clinical protocols, hygiene standards, and safety procedures to maintain a sterile testing environment. - Coordinate with healthcare staff to prioritize and schedule scans, provide educational information to patients. - Assist with inventory management of consumables, report equipment faults or shortages. - Participate in training, quality assurance programs, and audits. Qualifications & Experience: - Diploma or Bachelors degree in Radiology, Medical Imaging Technology, or related field. - Certification or hands-on training in BMD or DEXA scanning techniques is highly desirable. - 1-2 years of practical experience in a diagnostic center or hospital setting preferred. - Strong knowledge of imaging equipment, calibration, troubleshooting, and medical software. - Excellent patient-handling skills, empathy, clear communication, and professionalism. - Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. - High attention to detail and accuracy in reporting.
