Job Description

The BIW Fixture Design Engineer is responsible for designing welding and assembly fixtures used in the Body-in-White (BIW) stage of automotive manufacturing. This includes concept development, 3D modeling, and 2D detailing of fixtures for robotic and manual welding processes.

Key Responsibilities

Develop concepts, 3D finish, and 2D detailing of BIW welding fixtures
Design fixtures for Geo stations, Re-spot stations, and Grippers
Perform basic engineering calculations to verify design integrity
Collaborate with manufacturing and automation teams to ensure fixture feasibility
Create and manage BOMs, GD&T, and tolerance stack-up analysis
Ensure designs meet ergonomic, safety, and quality standards
Support prototype development and shop floor trials
Maintain documentation and participate in design reviews

Qualifications

Diploma/B.E. in Mechanical Engineering or related field
Proficiency in CAD tools like CATIA V5, Siemens NX, or SolidWorks
Knowledge of BIW fixture standards (GM, BMW, VW, etc.)
Familiarity with robotic welding cells and automation systems
