The Bakery Commis 3 is an entry-level position within the Bakery department, reporting to the Head Baker, Pastry Chef, or Bakery Supervisor. Your primary role will involve assisting in the preparation and production of various bakery items while ensuring adherence to recipes and upholding high standards of cleanliness and organization. To excel in this role, you must have a genuine passion for baking, a willingness to learn, and a collaborative spirit for effective teamwork. Your key responsibilities will include preparing doughs, batters, fillings, and icings as per established recipes, ensuring accurate measurement and mixing of ingredients for consistency, and operating bakery equipment under supervision. You will also be involved in baking a variety of products, decorating and finishing baked goods, monitoring baking processes, inspecting product quality, and maintaining cleanliness in the workstations and storage areas. To succeed as a Bakery Commis 3, you should have a basic understanding of baking techniques and ingredients, although prior experience in a bakery or culinary setting is beneficial but not mandatory. Attention to detail, ability to follow instructions, good organizational skills, effective communication, and teamwork capabilities are essential. Additionally, flexibility to work different shifts, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays, and the physical stamina to stand for extended periods, lift heavy items, and perform repetitive tasks are required. A high school diploma or equivalent is necessary, and culinary or baking courses are advantageous. The working conditions may involve a fast-paced environment with exposure to heat, humidity, and flour dust, requiring you to stand for long periods and handle hot equipment and sharp tools.
