Backstage Developer

Job Description

Key Responsibilities Backstage Development : Design, develop, and maintain custom Backstage plugins to extend platform functionality. Backstage Configuration & Deployment : Configure and deploy Backstage on cloud platforms ensuring scalability, security, and maintainability. Service Catalog : Build and manage the Service Catalog for service registration, discovery, and lifecycle management. CI/CD Integration : Integrate Backstage with CI/CD pipelines such as GitLab CI , Octopus Deploy , and ArgoCD . Observability Integration : Connect monitoring tools like Prometheus , Grafana , and New Relic to Backstage for enhanced observability. Cloud & Kubernetes Integration : Integrate Backstage with cloud platforms ( AWS , Azure , GCP ) and Kubernetes clusters . Documentation Integration : Centralize documentation by integrating Confluence , GitLab , and other content sources into Backstage's search. Agile Participation : Actively participate in Agile ceremonies including daily stand-ups , sprint planning , and retrospectives . Required Skills & Experience Backstage Expertise : Proven experience with extending Backstage core functionality and developing custom plugins. Frontend Development : Strong skills in TypeScript and React.js ; well-versed in component-based architecture. API Integration : Experience integrating RESTful and GraphQL APIs . Cloud Platform Experience : Hands-on experience with AWS , Azure , or Google Cloud Platform (GCP) . CI/CD Tools : Proficient in using Jenkins , GitLab CI , ArgoCD , and related DevOps tools. Kubernetes : Solid understanding of Kubernetes concepts and its integration with developer portals like Backstage. Problem Solving : Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Preferred Qualifications DevOps Knowledge : Understanding of DevOps workflows and how Backstage fits into modern SDLC pipelines. Performance Optimization : Ability to optimize Backstage apps/plugins for high performance and scalability. Microservices Architecture : Exposure to microservices-based system design and operations.
