At Jacobs, we're challenging today to reinvent tomorrow by solving the world's most critical problems for thriving cities, resilient environments, mission-critical outcomes, operational advancement, scientific discovery and cutting-edge manufacturing, turning abstract ideas into realities that transform the world for good, Your impact About The Role We are looking for a skilled back-end developer with a strong foundation in either C# (Dot net Core) or NodeDot js, and proven experience working with Azure cloud services, to join our growing team at Jacobs The ideal candidate will bring technical depth in back-end development, a pragmatic approach to problem solving, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining reliable and scalable web application services that meet the needs of both internal stakeholders and end users Strong communication skills and the ability to translate technical decisions into business value are essential, Responsibilities Develop and maintain scalable, secure backend services using either C# (Dot net Core) or NodeDot js, aligned to enterprise-grade standards for modern web applications, Integrate backend services with Azure cloud infrastructure, leveraging key services such as App Services, Key Vault, and Blob Storage, Design and manage relational databases (e-g , MS SQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL) and non-relational databases (e-g NoSQL, MongoDB) to support application logic, data transformation, and efficient storage, Collaborate with front-end developers by providing mock APIs and data models to streamline parallel development and decouple frontend/backend workflows, Partner with Product Owners, Digital Delivery Leads, and other developers to evolve backend architecture and continuously enhance system performance and resilience, Contribute to global product initiatives by building libraries, APIs, and shared services in line with business and technical requirements, Produce clear, maintainable documentation for backend systems, interfaces, and deployment pipelines We value collaboration and believe that in-person interactions are crucial for both our culture and client delivery We empower employees with our hybrid working policy, allowing them to split their work week between Jacobs offices/projects and remote locations enabling them to deliver their best work, Here's what you'll need Preferred Skills 810 yearsprofessional experience in backend development with a deep focus on C#/Dot net Core or NodeDot js, Solid hands-on experience with Azure platform services for web application hosting, deployment, and security, Proficiency in designing and querying relational databases; strong command of SQL, Clear understanding of RESTful API development, API versioning, and secure data exchange practices, Fluent with GitHub workflows and branching strategies in collaborative team environments, Ability to structure performant, testable, and maintainable backend code aligned to modern best practices, Strong problem-solving, stakeholder communication, and team collaboration skills, Desirable Experience with service-oriented architectures or microservices (even if not used in current stack) Exposure to containerised environments (e-g , Docker for development or deployment)
