Azure/Databricks Platform Engineer

This role owns the build and ongoing administration of a secure, reliable Azure-based data and application platform with a strong focus on Databricks. You will design and automate infrastructure using Terraform, operate and optimize Kubernetes workloads, and implement CI/CD with Azure DevOps and/or GitHub Actions. The engineer will enforce cloud security, RBAC/IAM, secrets management, and governance standards across the platform. You will also support data engineering tooling such as Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Airflow, and Data Lake, while ensuring observability, performance, and incident response through tools like Dynatrace.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on experience in DevOps/Platform Engineering on Microsoft Azure
• Strong hands-on with Terraform (Infrastructure as Code)
• Proven experience operating Kubernetes (AKS), Helm, and Docker
• Expertise with CI/CD tooling: Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions
• Practical experience with Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory (ADF), Airflow, and Azure Data Lake
• Deep understanding of cloud-native architectures and container orchestration
• Experience implementing and managing RBAC/IAM in Azure; Azure AD and AD Group Management
• Experience with Azure Key Vault for secrets and key management
• Familiarity with Dynatrace for monitoring, alerting, and incident management
• Strong scripting skills: Python, PowerShell, Bash (automation and tooling)
• Working knowledge of Azure networking and security best practices
• Excellent verbal and written communication for client-facing interactions

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain Azure platform components with a focus on reliability, security, and scalability
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Terraform and reusable modules
• Operate and administer AKS clusters; manage Helm charts and Docker images for platform workloads
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and/or GitHub Actions
• Administer and optimize Azure Databricks workspaces, clusters, and jobs; support Data Lake integrations
• Orchestrate and monitor data workflows using ADF and/or Airflow; enable robust scheduling and recovery patterns
• Define and enforce RBAC/IAM, AD group policies, and least-privilege access across the platform
• Implement secure secrets management with Azure Key Vault and standardized key rotation practices
• Establish end-to-end observability with Dynatrace; own incident response, performance tuning, and root-cause analysis
• Apply Azure networking and security best practices, including network segmentation, policies, and container security
• Create documentation, runbooks, and knowledge articles; collaborate closely with data engineering and application teams
• Engage with clients and stakeholders to gather requirements, present solutions, and drive adoption of platform standards
