ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Responsibilities
Design and architect end-to-end data engineering solutions leveraging Azure Databricks, Data Lake, Synapse, and Azure Data Factory (ADF).
Define data architecture blueprints, data modeling standards, and data governance frameworks.
Lead the design and optimization of ELT/ETL data pipelines for structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data sources.
Collaborate with business, analytics, and application teams to ensure data solutions meet performance, scalability, and compliance requirements.
Oversee data warehousing architecture, including dimensional modeling, data mart design, and performance tuning.
Drive best practices in data quality, metadata management, lineage, and cataloging.
Provide technical leadership to data engineers and guide the team in implementing scalable, secure, and cost-effective data solutions.
Evaluate and integrate new tools and technologies to enhance data engineering efficiency and capabilities.
Ensure compliance with healthcare data security and privacy standards (HIPAA, PHI/PII handling).
Required Skills & Experience
Expertise in Azure data ecosystem — ADF, Synapse Analytics, Data Lake Storage, Azure SQL, Power BI integration.
Proven experience in data modelling, data warehousing, and ETL/ELT pipeline development.
Strong understanding of data security, governance, and compliance frameworks, especially in healthcare environments.
Proficiency in Python, SQL, and PySpark.
Experience in CI/CD for data pipelines (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions).
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills — ability to translate business needs into technical design.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience working in Healthcare, Life Sciences, or Pharma domains.
Familiarity with FHIR data standards, HL7, or other healthcare data formats.
Experience with Snowflake, Redshift, or other modern cloud DWH solutions.
Knowledge of data observability tools and real-time data streaming (Kafka, Event Hubs).
Relevant certifications:
Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate / Azure Solutions Architect Expert
Databricks Certified Data Engineer Professional
Education
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or related field.
