Job Description

Role & responsibilities

Senior AWS Data Engineer

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable, fault-tolerant data pipelines on AWS.
  • Build and optimize ETL/ELT workflows using AWS services.
  • Implement batch and near real-time data processing solutions.
  • Work with structured and unstructured data from multiple sources.
  • Optimize data storage, performance, and cost on AWS.
  • Ensure data quality, integrity, security, and governance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Data Science, BI, Product, DevOps).
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data pipeline and performance issues.
  • Mentor junior data engineers and conduct code reviews.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering.
  • Strong hands-on experience with

    AWS services

    such as:
    • S3, Glue, Athena, Redshift, EMR
    • Lambda, Step Functions
    • Kinesis (Streams / Firehose)
  • Strong programming skills in

    Python

    (mandatory); Scala/Java is a plus.
  • Experience with

    SQL

    and performance tuning.
  • Hands-on experience with

    Apache Spark

    (PySpark preferred).
  • Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines and data lakes.
  • Knowledge of data modeling, warehousing concepts, and dimensional modeling.
  • Experience with workflow orchestration tools (Airflow / AWS MWAA preferred).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
  • Experience with version control tools (Git).

Good to Have

  • AWS Certification (AWS Certified Data Analytics / Solutions Architect).
  • Experience with streaming platforms (Kafka, Kinesis).
  • Experience with Snowflake or other cloud data warehouses.
  • Knowledge of Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Exposure to data governance, lineage, and cataloging tools.
