As an Automation Test Specialist at Telstra, you will play a crucial role in embedding quality into development from the initial stages. You will have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies and be a part of a team that is committed to innovation and excellence. **Key Responsibilities:** - Lead the shift-left movement by incorporating quality into development processes from the beginning. - Educate and motivate teams to write high-quality, testable code and implement automation effectively (TDD, BDD, unit testing). - Act as the quality advocate at Telstra, guiding teams, promoting best practices, and establishing standards for test automation. - Design robust test automation frameworks that can scale across microservices, APIs, and cloud-based platforms. - Collaborate with teams to enhance quality, drive innovation, and elevate the engineering squad at Telstra. - Improve CI/CD pipelines through intelligent automation to minimize manual intervention. - Conduct performance, security, and reliability testing to ensure system resilience. - Enhance test efficiency by eliminating unreliable tests and ensuring consistent automation across different platforms. - Stay updated on emerging technologies and introduce innovative testing approaches to enhance quality engineering practices. **Qualifications Required:** - Problem-solving skills and ability to thrive in complex, large-scale projects. - Continuous learning mindset and eagerness to grow and make a significant impact. - Proficiency in building test automation frameworks using Java, Selenium, Playwright, Cucumber, RestAssured, and API/Microservice testing. - Strong knowledge of TDD, BDD, and CI/CD pipelines with experience in gitlab or Bamboo. - Experience in designing scalable automation frameworks for fast-moving, distributed systems. - Passion for mentoring and coaching teams to adopt a test-first mindset and write quality-oriented code. - Proficiency in databases (SQL, Oracle, AWS RDS), performance testing, and infrastructure testing. - Ability to collaborate with leadership, developers, and product teams to cultivate a culture of quality. - Deep expertise in DevOps, cloud platforms (preferably AWS), and microservices contract testing. - Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation tools like Terraform or Ansible. **Bonus Qualifications:** - Previous experience in building a quality-first culture in previous roles. - Implementation of AI-driven test automation for productivity enhancement. - Familiarity with Github, Copilot & LLM. - Solid understanding of security testing and validating AI results. - Interest or experience in AI-driven test automation. - Experience in performance and load testing of applications and APIs at high volumes.
