Asst Manager-NPD

Roles, responsibilities and requirements

1. Planning (Based on Engineering Input):

• Prepare and monitor machine loading plans specific to each NPD part.
• Ensure availability of required tooling, jigs, fixtures, and setup information before machine loading.
• Track machine utilization and raise alerts for any slippage or reallocation needs.

2. Raw Material Management:

• Ensure timely issue and receipt of raw materials from the store.
• Track special material requirements and follow up with the purchase team for critical items.
• Maintain proper traceability and documentation for all materials and parts.

3. Execution & Shop Floor Coordination:

• Coordinate with NPD supervisors to start jobs as per plan.
• Coordinate availability of fixtures, tools, CNC programs, and inspection gauges before job execution.
• Closely monitor WIP status and follow up for bottlenecks or delays at each stage.
• Coordinate subcontract processes like heat treatment, plating, special processes, etc., where applicable.
• Monitor progress at each process stage and ensure adherence to plan.
• Address process-related stoppages by coordinating with relevant departments.

4. Quality & Documentation:

• Ensure timely First Piece Approval (FPA), in-process inspections, and final QC checks.
• Maintain traceability of each part and ensure route cards, inspection records, and checklists are updated.
• Resolve quality-related holds or NCRs with support from QC and Production.

5. Packing & Dispatch:

• Handover to packing team along with instructions.

• On-time machine loading and execution of NPD jobs
• Efficient machine planning and zero idle time due to planning gaps
• No delay due to fixture/tool unavailability
• Quality-approved parts delivered to dispatch within committed timelines
• Full coordination across departments with proper documentation

Skills & Competencies:

• knowledge of CNC, VMC, and high-precision machining processes
• Ability to create practical machine plans and load schedules
• Excellent shop floor coordination and communication
• Understanding of basic quality control and machining tolerances
• Proficiency in Excel, ERP/MRP systems for tracking and reporting
• High attention to planning discipline and timeline adherence

Preferred candidate profile

5-8 years of experience in an Aerospace, Defence industries with hands on experience in new product development
