Job Description

Key Responsibilities: Strategic SEO Leadership & Generative Search Adaptation: Assist the Team Lead in developing and executing comprehensive SEO strategies to significantly increase organic traffic and improve search engine rankings, with a keen eye on optimizing for generative search experiences. Conduct in-depth keyword research, competitive analysis, and identify growth opportunities, including those related to AI-driven search results. Monitor and analyze SEO performance metrics, providing regular reports and actionable recommendations, especially in the context of how generative AI impacts visibility. Stay up to date on how search engines are evolving with AI, and how to optimize content for those changes. Programmatic SEO, Content Optimization & Generative Experience Optimization: Lead the implementation and optimization of programmatic SEO initiatives for scalable content creation and expansion. Ensure all content adheres to EEAT principles (Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trustworthiness) and prioritizes user experience, including how content may be utilized within generative AI responses. Develop and maintain content calendars and workflows, ensuring timely publication of high-quality content. Incorporate user feedback from comments, social media, and analytics to improve content relevancy and engagement, as well as optimize for how users interact with generative AI results. Optimize content to be used as source material for generative AI responses. Experiment with and implement strategies that improve the chance of the sites content being used in generative search results. Data Analysis & Reporting: Utilize advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills (pivot tables, scripting, automation, complex formulas) to analyze large datasets and extract meaningful insights. Generate regular performance reports, dashboards, and presentations for stakeholders. Identify trends, patterns, and anomalies in data to inform strategic decision-making. Use Google Analytics 4 and Google Search Console to monitor site performance, user behavior, and SEO effectiveness, including tracking the impact of generative search. Technical SEO & Site Health: Conduct regular technical SEO audits to identify and resolve site issues affecting crawlability, indexability, and performance. Work closely with the development team to implement technical SEO best practices and optimize site architecture. Monitor site speed, mobile responsiveness, and other technical factors to ensure optimal user experience, including how those factors influence generative search. Team Collaboration & Growth: Assist in managing content creators and SEO specialists, providing guidance and mentorship. Stay up-to-date with the latest SEO trends, algorithm updates, and industry best practices, with a strong focus on generative AI and its impact on search. Foster a collaborative and data-driven culture within the team. Assist in training team members on SEO best practices, including those related to generative search. Required Skills & Qualifications: Proven experience 4 to 5 years managing high-traffic websites in the publishing or media industry. Extensive knowledge of SEO principles, techniques, and best practices, including technical SEO and content optimization. Demonstrated expertise in programmatic SEO and scalable content creation. Advanced proficiency in Google Analytics 4, Google Search Console, and leading SEO tools (e.g., SEMrush, Ahrefs). Exceptional analytical skills and advanced expertise in Excel/Google Sheets (pivot tables, scripting, automation, complex formulas). Strong understanding of EEAT principles and user-focused content development. Strong understanding of how generative AI is impacting search. Familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress). Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities. Understanding of user experience (UX) principles and how they relate to SEO and generative search. Experience in interpreting and implementing user generated feedback.
