Position Summary

The Associate Review Manager is responsible for managing and providing consultation on managed document review projects for corporate and law firm clients. This role requires a solid understanding of the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM) and the ability to leverage advanced review technologies to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and deliver exceptional client service. The ideal candidate will possess strong project management skills, the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and proven experience in leading and mentoring review teams.

Key Responsibilities

Client & Project Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout managed document review projects.
  • Manage client expectations around deliverables, timelines, and quality.
  • Document and communicate substantive issues to the case team through issue logs.
  • Monitor and report on project progress, productivity, and accuracy of review teams.

Technology & Workflow Implementation

  • Design and implement workflows within document review platforms, including fields, layouts, views, rules, security settings, persistent highlighting, and search term reports.
  • Utilize advanced technology such as email threading, near duplicate identification, clustering, and predictive coding to improve review productivity and accuracy.
  • Apply quality control and quality assurance best practices, including statistical sampling, advanced search techniques, and custom scripts.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, motivate, and mentor contract document review lawyers throughout projects
  • Provide training on document review platforms and review methodologies.
  • Identify, develop, and mentor team leads to strengthen team capabilities.
  • Coordinate with case teams on quality control and second-level reviews of producible or privileged documents.

Review Deliverables

  • Oversee the creation of privilege logs in line with client requirements.
  • Ensure privilege log descriptions and required fields are accurate and standardized, leveraging automated processes where possible.

Qualifications

  • Law degree required.
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience administering document review databases, particularly Relativity; Relativity Certified Administrators preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of project management or team lead experience in an eDiscovery capacity; law firm or managed review vendor experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of the management, processing, review, analysis, and production of Electronically Stored Information (ESI).
  • Hands-on experience administering document review databases, particularly Relativity; Relativity Certified Administrators preferred.
  • Familiarity with analytics tools such as Relativity Analytics or Equivio (e.g., email threading, near duplicate detection, clustering, predictive coding).
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, data validation, VLOOKUP/HLOOKUP, text-to-columns, find/replace).
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; proven ability to lead client meetings and internal calls.
  • Strong issue-spotting, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Client-focused mindset with a willingness to go above and beyond to exceed expectations.
