1. Position Overview

The Associate Professor in the Computer Applications Department will contribute to the university’s academic excellence by delivering high-quality teaching, engaging in impactful research, mentoring students, and actively participating in departmental and institutional development activities. The ideal candidate should possess strong subject expertise, research capabilities, and a commitment to collaborative learning and academic leadership.

2. Key Responsibilities. Teaching & Learning

• Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate courses such as BCA, MCA, B.Sc. Computer Science, and other related programs.
• Prepare lesson plans, teaching materials, laboratory setups, and digital content.
• Conduct lectures, practical sessions, tutorials, workshops, and seminars.
• Ensure effective student assessment through exams, assignments, viva, projects, and continuous evaluation.
• Use innovative and technology-enabled teaching methods (LMS, simulations, virtual labs, etc.).

B. Research & Scholarly Activities

• Conduct high-quality research in relevant areas of Computer Applications such as:
• Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning
• Data Science & Analytics
• Cybersecurity
• Cloud Computing
• Software Engineering
• IoT, Blockchain, AR/VR, Databases, etc.
• Publish research papers in reputed UGC CARE, Scopus, SCI/SCIE-indexed journals.
• Apply for funded research projects (DST, AICTE, UGC, SERB, etc.).
• Guide Ph.D., postgraduate, and undergraduate research projects.

C. Academic Administration

• Participate in curriculum development, course design, and academic planning.
• Serve on departmental committees, boards of studies, and exam committees.
• Contribute to accreditation and quality assurance processes (NAAC, NBA, IQAC).

D. Student Mentorship & Support

• Provide academic and career guidance to students.
• Mentor students in academic competitions, hackathons, internships, and placements.
• Support student clubs, technical societies, and extracurricular academic events.

E. Institutional Contribution

• Participate in university events, conferences, FDPs, and professional development activities.
• Build industry collaborations and support internship/placement initiatives.
• Uphold the mission, vision, and values of CGC University.

3. Qualifications & Experience Educational Qualifications (as per UGC/AICTE norms):

• Master’s Degree (MCA / M.Sc. Computer Science / Equivalent) with at least 55% marks.
• Ph.D. in Computer Applications/Computer Science/IT (mandatory).

Experience:

• Minimum 8 years of teaching/research experience, with at least 3 years as Assistant Professor or equivalent.
• Evidence of significant research publications, patents, or funded projects.

Preferred Skills & Competencies:

• Strong subject knowledge and programming proficiency (Python, Java, C/C++, R, etc.).
• Familiarity with modern tools and technologies in computing.
• Strong communication, presentation, and mentoring skills.
• Ability to collaborate with peers, industry, and research bodies.
