Job Description

This position, based in Australia, presents an opportunity to join the School of Electrical Engineering and Telecommunications within the Faculty of Engineering at UNSW as an Associate Lecturer / Lecturer in a Teaching and Research role. As an Associate Lecturer / Lecturer, you will have the chance to develop your research in Electrical Engineering while teaching undergraduate/postgraduate classes in the areas of energy systems, embedded systems, or control systems. The responsibilities include conducting classes, designing learning activities, and engaging in high-quality research individually or as part of a team. This role is ideal for an early-career academic seeking to establish a career in academia. Reporting to the Head of School, the position does not involve direct reports. The salary for the role is as follows: - Associate Lecturer (Level A): AUD $110,059 to $117,718 per annum + 17% superannuation - Lecturer (Level B): $123,620 to $145,730 per annum + 17% superannuation This is a full-time position for a fixed term of 2 years, located in Kensington, Sydney, Australia. For this role, the following skills and experiences are required: - A PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related field, and/or relevant work experience. - Proven commitment to staying updated with discipline knowledge and advancements. - Demonstrated experience in teaching and learning design, development, and delivery at undergraduate/postgraduate levels in energy systems, embedded systems, or control systems. - Knowledge of educational technologies and online delivery methods. - Ability to engage students, promote independent learning, and provide meaningful feedback. - Preparedness for professional development in teaching practices. - Ability to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds and promote equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives. - Demonstrated capability to conduct high-quality academic research independently. - Track record of publications and conference presentations. - Ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines, and build effective relationships. - Interpersonal skills and commitment to UNSW's values and policies. - Understanding of health and safety responsibilities and attendance at relevant training sessions.
