Assistant Vice President, Securities Services Non-Financial Risk

As an Assistant Vice President, Securities Services Non-Financial Risk at HSBC, your role will involve assisting in the management, coordination, and execution of risk management activities across Security Services (SSV) globally. You will ensure that the risk governance framework is clear and fit for purpose, and that escalation paths are adequate and effective. Your contributions to the Non-Financial Risk business risk management team will impact the broader strategy and performance of the global function. It will be your responsibility to support senior management in ensuring the appropriate risk and control structure is in place and that risks are managed effectively. Key Responsibilities: - Assist in the management, coordination, and execution of risk management activities across Security Services (SSV) globally. - Ensure the risk governance framework is clear and fit for purpose, with adequate and effective escalation paths. - Contribute to the broader strategy and performance of the global function as a member of the Non-Financial Risk business risk management team. - Support senior management in ensuring the appropriate risk and control structure is in place and manage risks effectively. - Communicate risk matters succinctly and concisely across SSV, the Global Functions, and other relevant areas of the bank. - Provide consistent internal and external benchmarking when required. - Oversee the execution of the Risk Management Framework across SSV globally. - Attend critical SSV/Country level Risk & Control committees/forums and ensure effective coverage of critical SSV risks and issues. - Regularly review the NFR team's priorities, activities, structure, and resources to align optimally with business needs and risk appetite. - Minimize the likelihood and impact of disruption by ensuring the business meets expectations of customers, counterparties, regulators, and other stakeholders. - Implement strategies, policies, and procedures to manage operational and other risks effectively. - Ensure the business risk profile and related issues/impacts are understood and appropriate actions are taken to manage within appetite. Qualifications Required: - Very strong communication skills (written and verbal). - In-depth knowledge of Financial Markets and securities services essential. - Proven organizational, planning, interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, and team building skills. - Experience in supporting & collaborating on global processes with internal/external stakeholders and building new processes. - Appreciation of the financial industry and key regulations. - Good understanding of Investment Banking products and functions. - Minimum bachelor's degree in a related field such as business or finance. - Ability to work with multiple stakeholders and manage their expectations. - Ability to interact at all levels in the organization. - Motivated, dynamic, and ability to independently drive and manage multiple tasks. - Previous experience in operational risk or internal control function preferred. - Good understanding of Risk and Control framework and operational aspects underpinning Control processes.
