Sub - Department

• EAF LF operations-

  Operations of all preheaters in EAF and LF area. Ladle management among EAF, LF & Caster. Ensure smooth slag dumping operations for caster return ladles. Ensure smooth metal dumping operations in metal pit during emergency situations. Coordination with Crane operators for Heat lifting, placement of empty ladle to EAF car. Ensure smooth operations of Ladle tilters and transfer car to transfer the ladle, tundish to repair shop. Operating job arising out of improvement in existing operations. Consumption data and receipt of Ladle consumables, nozzle filling compound, safety appliances, fire extinguisher, first aid boxes, ferro alloys and fluxes, cord wire, samplers probes, electrodes, top lances etc. Monitor availability of all consumables into the material bins. Ensure slag free tapping and inspect the stream during tapping. Ensure availability of all required materials for Heat making and tapping stages. Inspect and ensure the health of all machines/equipment related to EAF & LF. Ensure chemistry control as per grade design and temperature required in EAF & LF.

• Continuous casting

  - Adherence to SOPs and Work instructions for each grade of casting. Receiving, Dispatch of Tundish after every cast end. Fixing of SES tubes and mechanism before heating of tundish. Cutting of Billet strand in emergency conditions. Handling and storage of billets from Emergency collecting table. Ensure safe operation of Teeming, lancing. Operating job arising out of improvement in existing operations. Yield report for Caster Scrap generated from caster booking in SAP Ground stock monitoring Procurement of all casting consumables Dummy bar insertion and Preparation of machine for casting. Mold cleaning and inspection after every sequence break. Control of Mold level during startup and casting. Capping of strand after every sequence break. Handling of failure and startup of caster. Ensure availability of all required consumable at casting floor. Powder feeding in Mold during casting process.

• Refractory

  - Shift In charge of Steel Making Refractories (EAF relining, Steel Ladles relining, hot repairs of EAF & ladles, slide gate operations & caster operations (Tundish management), purging system and condition monitoring of EAF & ladles and responsible for all shift related activities. Shift wise monitoring of material stock at all sites and coordinating with refractory stores for material delivery. Preparing material reservations and purchase requisitions in Easybuy/SAP. Issuing work permit and certification of memo for jobs done during their shift. Monitoring and control of refractory application parameters during relining of Steel ladles, Hot Metal Ladles, EAF, Purging plug fixing, Tundish DVM & furnitures installation, slide gate maintenance & flow control refractories monitoring at caster. Responsible for preheating of steel ladles and Tundish as per heating schedule to be provided in SOP. Responsible for data keeping to track KPI movements. Responsible for workplace safety and availability of all contractors employees working under him. Responsible for day-to-day functions at Refractories at Steel Making Area. Responsible for hot gunning/ fettling/ patch repairs of EAF & ladles as per condition monitoring (Visual inspection/ IR Camera or laser scanner) feedback.

• Mill operations

  - Mill inspection, check sheet update & roll alignment, Stock adjustment, Guides changing, Roll / Pass Changing, Section Changing, Water Box Nozzles changing, Control Pulpit operation assistant, Material handling, Material receiving & record keeping, Cobble cutting & its removal from mill stands, To assist shift in charge for daily management activities, Operational job execution during MSD, Regular Shutdown, Breakdown cases. Operating job arising out of improvement in existing operations.

• By products-

  Scrap collection and segregation, scrapyard management, cross functional with mill, dispatch for daily management, Safety, quality & compliance.
