Assistant Quality cum Material Expert

An Assistant Quality Material Engineer in the civil industry ensures construction materials meet standards by performing quality checks, conducting tests (like strength/durability), documenting issues, coordinating with suppliers, and implementing quality control procedures, working under a Quality Engineer to maintain compliance with industry standards and project specifications for concrete, aggregates, etc., often requiring a Civil Engineering degree and site experience.

Job Title: Assistant Quality Material Engineer (Civil)

Job Summary:

To support the Quality Engineer in ensuring all construction materials (e.g., cement, aggregates, steel, concrete) comply with project specifications, technical standards, and quality benchmarks through rigorous testing, inspection, and documentation, contributing to project integrity and successful delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

• Material Testing & Inspection: Conduct field and laboratory tests (e.g., slump test, compression tests) on raw materials and fresh/hardened concrete.
• Quality Control: Assist in developing and implementing quality control plans, check sheets, and procedures for materials.
• Documentation: Maintain detailed records of material test results, certifications, and quality reports.
• Supplier Coordination: Liaise with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery of compliant materials.
• Site Support: Visit construction sites to monitor material usage, storage, and application, identifying and reporting non-conformances.
• Issue Resolution: Help identify quality-related problems and assist in implementing corrective actions.
• Reporting: Prepare daily/weekly quality reports for the Quality Engineer and Project Manager.

Qualifications:

• Education: Degree in Civil Engineering.
• Experience: 6+ Years of experience in material testing, quality control, or on construction sites is highly beneficial.
• Knowledge: Strong understanding of construction materials (concrete, soil, asphalt), testing methods, and industry standards (e.g., IS Codes).

Skills:

• Attention to detail & strong analytical skills.
• Good communication (written/verbal) and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite and potentially AutoCAD.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team on-site.
