Job Description

As the Deputy Manager of Production at Sika, you will play a crucial role in planning and executing production activities to meet the supply chain requirements efficiently and cost-effectively while ensuring compliance with Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) and Quality Management Systems (QMS). Based in Jhagadia, you will report directly to the Factory Manager. Your primary responsibilities will include executing small and medium-sized projects within specified timelines and safety guidelines. You should possess a strong understanding of various equipment such as Mixers, Dissolvers, Packing Machines, chillers, compressors, and have a good grasp of powder and liquid formulation processes. It will be essential for you to plan and oversee production activities based on the required manpower to meet quality standards. In addition, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate records of semi-finished, advanced intermediate, and finished goods in the ERP system, ensuring optimal stock levels as per supply chain guidelines, and overseeing the proper handling of raw materials to prevent losses or wastage. Adhering to safety protocols, environmental regulations, and quality standards will be a key part of your role. You will need to implement the 5S system in the production area, coach and support your team to achieve production targets safely, and drive continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean practices to enhance efficiency. Your behavioral competencies should include a focus on training and developing your team, making prompt decisions, strategic thinking, openness to change management, and a positive problem-solving attitude. Strong leadership, communication skills, commitment to quality, and result-oriented approach will be crucial for success in this role. To excel in this position, you should have a minimum of 8 to 10 years of experience in the Specialty Chemicals, Paint, or Construction Chemicals industry. A degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering (BE or BTech) is required, with additional qualifications or certifications in material planning and safety considered advantageous. Key competencies for this role include time management, inventory control, manpower management, proficiency in computer systems, commitment to HSE and ISO standards, knowledge of 5S principles, and a deep understanding of production processes and utilities in the construction chemicals industry.
