Assistant GIS Consultant

As a GIS Specialist, your role will involve gathering spatial data for various resilience and other projects. You will be responsible for constructing and managing databases, analyzing data to provide valuable insights, and producing spatial maps using best practice cartography. Additionally, you will utilize programming to generate required spatial outputs and present data through web portals when necessary. It is crucial to maintain knowledge of technical standards, legislation, codes of practice, and New Zealand standards, while also tracking industry trends and best practices in GIS. Key Responsibilities: - Gather spatial data for resilience and other projects - Construct and manage databases - Analyze data to provide valuable insights - Produce spatial maps using best practice cartography - Use programming to generate required spatial outputs - Present data through web portals - Maintain knowledge of technical standards and legislation - Track industry trends and best practices in GIS Desired Skills: - Good cartographic skills - Ability to produce 3D maps and models - Strong capability in digitizing and capturing data using ArcGIS or qGIS - Proficient in data management skills - Good analytical skills and attention to detail - Familiarity with Python scripting and digital tools in the GIS domain - Good interpersonal and communication skills Software Proficiencies: - Hands-on experience with a broad range of GIS tools, especially ESRI ArcGIS - Coding and scripting skills preferred in Python, JavaScript, SQL, R, HTML/CSS, C++/C# - Experience in quantitative Risk Assessment tools like @Risk, Frontline Solver, etc. preferred Qualifications: - MSc or MTech in Geology or Geo-Hazards or Geotechnical Engineering with PG Diploma in Geographic Information System - OR MSc or MTech in Remote Sensing & Geographic Information System with BSc or BTech in Geology or Earth Science or Geoscience domains - Membership of a relevant international professional body preferred Experience: - 4+ years of hands-on professional experience Please note that the company information was not provided in the job description.,
