Assistant Controller

An assistant controller plays a vital role in an organization's accounting and finance department by supporting the controller in various financial management tasks. Their job description typically includes overseeing daily accounting operations (such as general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, and journal entries), preparing and reviewing financial statements, supporting internal and external audits, and maintaining internal controls to ensure compliance with accounting policies. Key responsibilities of an assistant controller often include: Overseeing daily accounting processes and supervising accounting staff. Preparing and consolidating monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports in accordance with GAAP. Assisting with budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses. Implementing and monitoring internal controls. Supporting the month-end and year-end close processes. Preparing documentation for audits and ensuring regulatory compliance. Managing payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and fixed asset reporting. Assessing and improving accounting systems and procedures. Supporting financial reporting for public companies, including SEC filings and SOX compliance
