Summary:As an Application Support Engineer, you will act as a software detective, providing a dynamic service that identifies and resolves issues within various components of critical business systems. Your typical day will involve collaborating with team members to troubleshoot problems, analyzing system performance, and ensuring the smooth operation of applications to support business continuity. You will engage with stakeholders to understand their needs and provide timely solutions, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the organization.
Roles & Responsibilities:Install, configure, and manage Microsoft IIS web servers on Windows Server platforms.Deploy and maintain web applications hosted on IIS, including ASP.NET and other supported technologies.Monitor server performance and uptime, ensuring high availability and responsiveness of hosted applications.Manage SSL/TLS certificates, enforce HTTPS, and maintain security best practices for web servers.Configure and manage IIS components such as application pools, sites, virtual directories, and bindings.Automate administrative tasks using PowerShell or other scripting tools.Implement and maintain security settings, including authentication, authorization, IP filtering, and request filtering.Collaborate with development and DevOps teams to support code deployments, troubleshoot application issues, and manage environments.Analyze IIS logs and event viewer to diagnose and resolve errors or performance bottlenecks.Maintain documentation of configurations, processes, and change history for compliance and operational continuity.Support disaster recovery efforts, including backup and restoration of IIS configurations and hosted applications. Professional & Technical Skills:
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in IT, with a strong focus on Windows Server administration, IIS web server management, and application hosting environments.1-3 years of hands-on experience with Windows operating system internals, including system commands, services, and file structures.Proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple work requests effectively, ensuring timely resolution and minimal impact to business operations.Hands-on experience with IIS installation, configuration, and management including sites, application pools, bindings, and virtual directories.Solid understanding of Windows operating system internals, services, registry, and system performance monitoring.Experience with SSL/TLS certificate management, HTTPS configuration, and web server security hardening.Familiarity with PowerShell scripting for automation of routine administrative tasks.Knowledge of web application deployment and troubleshooting (ASP.NET, .NET Core, or other IIS-hosted frameworks).Experience working with DNS, load balancers, and firewall rules as related to web application delivery.Ability to analyze and interpret IIS logs and Windows Event Viewer for diagnosing issues.Strong understanding of authentication and authorization mechanisms (Windows Auth, Basic, Forms, etc.).Experience with backup and recovery of IIS configurations and hosted content.Strong problem-solving skills and ability to prioritize multiple work requests under pressure.Good communication skills and experience working in cross-functional teams (developers, network, security, etc.).Experience in deploying, configuring, and managing applications on WebSphere, including performance tuning and troubleshooting on Application servers like WAS, Tomcat , WebLogic ,etc.Knowledge of HTTP Server configuration, including virtual hosts, modules, and security settings.Familiarity with monitoring tools for WebSphere, Tomcat, and Apache to ensure optimal performance and availability.Experience writing scripts for automating deployments and management tasks across these platforms.Good verbal and written communication skills to connect with customers at varying levels of the organization.Ability to operate independently and make decisions with little direct supervision.
