Summary:As an Application Support Engineer, you will act as software detectives, providing a dynamic service that identifies and resolves issues within various components of critical business systems. Your typical day will involve collaborating with different teams to troubleshoot and enhance system performance, ensuring that all applications run smoothly and efficiently. You will engage in problem-solving activities, utilizing your analytical skills to diagnose issues and implement effective solutions, thereby contributing to the overall success of the organization. Roles & Responsibilities:- Expected to be an SME in PostgreSQL Administration-Install, configure, and upgrade PostgreSQL across Linux/Unix-based systems.-Perform routine database maintenance tasks such as backups, restores, vacuuming, reindexing, and replication checks.-Manage PostgreSQL clusters, schemas, extensions, tablespaces, and user roles-Monitor database health, slow queries, and locks.-Optimize SQL queries, indexing strategies, and partitioning.-Analyze and tune system resources (CPU, memory, I/O) to improve performance.-Support PostgreSQL in cloud environments including Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL, Aurora PostgreSQL, Azure Database for PostgreSQL & Google Cloud SQL for PostgreSQL-Manage backups, restores, and replication in cloud-native services.-Implement database security best practices (RBAC, SSL/TLS, data encryption at rest and in transit).-Monitor and audit access controls, logs, and permissions.-Support compliance with internal and external standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, SOC 2).-Automate routine DBA tasks with Bash, Python, or Ansible.-Monitor PostgreSQL using tools such as pg_stat_statements, pgBadger, Prometheus/Grafana, Zabbix, or DataDog,Configure alerts and usage dashboards for capacity and performance.--Maintain database documentation, including configurations, SOPs, and DR procedures.-Provide L2/L3 support for PostgreSQL-related incidents.-Collaborate with developers, DevOps, and infrastructure teams.Professional & Technical

Experience with AWS Administration, Microsoft Azure IaaS, Platform as a Service Providers (PaaS).- Strong understanding of Linux-based systems (preferably RHEL, CentOS, or Ubuntu).-Experience managing PostgreSQL in cloud and containerized environments is a strong plus.-Need to have Database Engines skill in PostgreSQL 1115, Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL, & optional skill in TimescaleDB-Replication/HA skill in Streaming Replication, Logical Replication, Patroni, repmgr-Backup Tools skill in pgBackRest, Barman, WAL-G-Monitoring skills inpg_stat_statements, pgBadger, Prometheus, Grafana, Zabbix-Scripting & Automation skills in Bash, Python, Ansible, Terraform (optional)-Security skills in SSL, TDE, RBAC, pg_hba.conf, role-based access-Need to have certificate in PostgreSQL Certified DBA (EDB, Crunchy Data, or equivalent), AWS/Azure/GCP Database Certifications, Linux+ or RHCSA/RHCE & ITIL Foundation.-Need to be certified in PostgreSQL Certified DBA (EDB, Crunchy Data, or equivalent), AWS/Azure/GCP Database Certifications, Linux+ or RHCSA/RHCE & ITIL Foundation (Optional).
