Job Description

As an Underwriting Analyst/Associate at Amherst, your role will involve underwriting and locating investment opportunities in the single-family residential real estate sector. You will play a crucial part in the acquisition process of single-family homes, from tracking assets through various deal phases to constructing detailed presentations for senior management. Your responsibilities will also include analyzing the rental market, monitoring portfolio performance, and collaborating on strategic initiatives to enhance margins and returns. Key Responsibilities: - Underwrite investment opportunities using market comparables to determine accurate rent, value, and initial bid price for single-family assets - Participate in the acquisition process of single-family homes by monitoring assets through various deal phases - Create detailed presentations on market trends and strategies for senior management - Analyze the rental market to assess existing portfolio performance and assist in revenue management strategies for different regions - Collaborate with operating partners to drive strategic initiatives aimed at improving margins and returns Qualifications Required: - Bachelor's degree required, MBA preferred. Specialization in Real Estate or Finance is a plus - 3+ years of relevant experience in underwriting, brokerage, or other real estate-related disciplines - Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; knowledge of SQL and Python is advantageous - Strong academic background with a focus on finance, real estate, accounting, or math - Demonstrated track record of success, both academically and professionally - Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with internal and external stakeholders - Detail-oriented, organized, and able to work effectively in a high-intensity environment with tight deadlines - Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and deliver high-quality results under time constraints - Desire to work in a collaborative, fast-paced team environment Amherst's core values include positive culture and conduct, client-centricity, effective communication, execution excellence, agility, and community support.
