Job Description

As an Analyst/Associate in the Acquisitions (Pricing & Underwriting) department within the Asset Management division at Amherst, you will be part of a vertically integrated real estate investment, development, and operating platform. Amherst offers solutions across the U.S. real estate capital stack, including single-family residential (SFR), mortgage-backed securities (MBS), and commercial real estate (CRE). Headquartered in Austin, TX and New York, NY, with global offices in India and Costa Rica, Amherst leverages proprietary technology, data, and mortgage models to provide investors with efficient pricing, financing, and management solutions across debt and equity strategies in various real estate markets. Within the Single-Family Residential (SFR) strategy, Amherst has grown to own and operate 40,000+ homes in 30+ markets across 20 states. As part of the team, you will be involved in acquiring, building, renovating, leasing, financing, managing, and disposing of homes, both for the company and its investors. Additionally, Amherst is engaged in strategic initiatives in commercial real estate debt and equity, mortgage-backed securities advisory, and more. In this role, you will work within the Amherst Merchant Banking division, overseeing investment management activities, including capital raising, forming new ventures, acquiring and disposing of homes, and managing portfolio investments. The team is expanding its presence in Mumbai, India, to work closely with U.S.-based colleagues across functional areas. As the Underwriting Analyst, you will be responsible for underwriting and identifying investment opportunities in the single-family residential real estate sector. Your tasks will include tracking assets through deal lifecycles, creating detailed presentations on market trends, underwriting and monitoring the rental market, and collaborating on revenue management strategies for the existing portfolio of 45,000+ homes. To succeed in this role, you should have a Bachelor's degree (MBA preferred) with a specialty focus in Real Estate or Finance, along with 3+ years of experience in underwriting or real estate-related disciplines. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint is required, and knowledge of SQL and Python is a plus. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and a desire for collaboration are essential. If you embody Amherst's core values of positive culture, client-centricity, effective communication, execution excellence, agility, and community support, and are looking for a role in a highly collaborative and fast-paced team, this opportunity may be a great fit for you. The working shift is in the US time zone with a flexible hybrid working model.,
