AM-Strategic Sourcing (Should Costing)

The role requires you to collect and analyze information and data to estimate costs associated with sourcing a product or component following efficient manufacturing and distribution practices. Your estimate will need to consider factors such as labor rates, materials, overhead, and profit margin. You should possess good communication skills to build and maintain relationships internally and externally. A strong technical mindset is essential for interpreting technical data and conveying it to others. Being highly numerate, you must be capable of researching, managing, and manipulating numerical information. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and accuracy are crucial. It is important to have knowledge of machine hour rates for different machine makes and familiarity with manufacturing and assembly process sequences to select the most cost-effective method. Your main responsibilities will include compiling specifications and engaging with stakeholders to translate them into cost estimates for new and current products. You will establish cost estimates for production processes and tooling costs, review alternatives, and identify cost reduction opportunities through analysis. Additionally, you will suggest alternative manufacturing processes to vendors, perform detailed gap analysis between Zero Base Costing and quotes, and recommend cost-effective solutions during the design and development process. Regularly preparing cost standards and reports to share with others in the business and benchmarking costing methods with competitors and industry standards will also be part of your tasks. In terms of job scope, the role is global, involving key internal and external stakeholders such as the Global Sourcing team, suppliers, supplier quality, project managers, and freight forwarders. The desired qualifications for this position include a minimum of 5 years of work experience in Cost Engineering or Cost Estimating, a Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical/automotive/industrial preferred), proficiency in English and Hindi, and soft skills in Microsoft applications such as Excel and PowerPoint. Technical skills required include a thorough understanding of manufacturing processes like Casting, Forging, Stamping, Machining, Electroplating, Powder Coating, and Assembly operations. Travel may be required on a need basis for this role.,
