Job Summary: We are looking for a skilled and experienced Fettling Incharge to supervise and manage all fettling activities in our foundry. The role involves ensuring proper surface finishing of castings, maintaining productivity, and ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards. Key Responsibilities: Supervise daily fettling operations including grinding, chipping, cutting, and shot blasting. Allocate manpower and plan shifts to ensure timely processing of castings. Ensure castings are fettled as per quality standards and dimensional accuracy. Monitor and reduce rejection, rework, and unnecessary material removal. Coordinate with production, quality, and dispatch teams for smooth workflow. Ensure regular maintenance and proper functioning of fettling equipment and tools. Train fettling workers on correct techniques and safety protocols. Maintain proper documentation for production, rejections, tool usage, and worker attendance. Enforce safety rules and ensure use of PPE by all fettling workers. Identify bottlenecks and suggest improvements in fettling processes. Lab Management & Supervision Lead the foundry lab team and assign daily tasks. Maintain lab cleanliness, safety, and operational efficiency. Ensure calibration and maintenance of lab instruments. Metallurgical Testing Perform and supervise chemical analysis of raw materials and castings (e.g., spectrometer testing). Conduct microstructure analysis, hardness testing, and sand testing. Quality Assurance Support Provide metallurgical data for process improvement and rejection analysis. Ensure castings meet the required material specifications and customer standards. Assist in preparation and review of inspection reports and test certificates. Documentation & Reporting Maintain records of all tests and calibrations as per ISO/TS standards. Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly lab reports. Support audits by maintaining traceability and proper documentation. New Material & Process Development Participate in R&D trials for new materials or process modifications. Validate chemical and mechanical properties of trial samples.
