The role of a Mathematician, Physicist, or Engineer in our cross-functional optimization team involves developing, validating, and refining mathematical models and algorithms to drive optimization across product design, manufacturing processes, and material systems. By collaborating with mechanical/electrical engineers and software developers, you will contribute significantly to data-driven decision-making and computational efficiency in various areas such as lead time reduction, material optimization, process improvement, and chemical composition refinement. Your responsibilities will include: - Developing mathematical models and optimization algorithms to support engineering objectives like lead time reduction, material efficiency, and process optimization. - Collaborating with engineers to translate physical system constraints and performance goals into solvable mathematical formulations. - Working with software developers to integrate algorithms into custom tools and platforms for computational efficiency and scalability. - Continuously validating and enhancing existing algorithms using real-world data, simulations, and feedback. - Applying principles from applied mathematics, physics, and numerical methods to solve complex optimization problems across various domains. - Supporting the development of predictive models and simulations for chemical composition optimization and structural performance. - Ensuring compliance with external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines while upholding Hitachi Energy's core values of safety and integrity. Requirements: - Masters or Ph.D. in Mathematics, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field. - Bachelors degree in engineering or a related field with 3 to 6 years of relevant experience. - Strong foundation in optimization theory, numerical methods, and mathematical modeling. - Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and MATLAB for algorithm development. - Ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary team and possess analytical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills. - Capability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. - Proficiency in spoken and written English is essential.
