Description
As a member of the Stripe Product Accounting Team, you will play a crucial role in supporting all products at Stripe by providing guidance on accounting implications and enabling teams to make well-informed strategic decisions. Your primary responsibility will involve ensuring the accurate and timely recording of all business-generated transactions on our balance sheet and income statement. Operating in a dynamic environment, you will collaborate extensively with cross-functional and international teams. Your key responsibilities will include partnering with internal systems and engineering teams to facilitate internal financial systems and automate accounting processes. You will conduct detailed analyses using critical thinking to pinpoint root causes, propose solutions, and evaluate the financial impact of issues or opportunities. Collaborating with engineering and accounting teams, you will drive solutions and ensure alignment on financial and operational outcomes. Additionally, you will assess the effectiveness of internal controls, design new processes and controls for emerging business activities, and closely partner with product, go-to-market, and finance teams to gain a thorough understanding of new products, features, and contracts. Furthermore, you will be tasked with developing and maintaining up-to-date accounting procedural documentation, planning and executing monthly and quarterly close activities, producing internal management analyses and reporting, and supporting external audit processes. We are seeking individuals who meet the minimum requirements for the role, with preferred qualifications considered a bonus but not mandatory. The minimum requirements include holding an accountancy qualification (e.g., CA, CPA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with 3-6 years of relevant accounting experience, a degree in Accounting or Finance, proven expertise in the monthly close process, journal preparation, audit, regulatory reporting, and exposure to accounting systems, as well as working knowledge of US GAAP - ASC 606, ASC 326, and ASC 450. Strong analytical skills, proficiency in Excel, an ability to navigate ambiguous situations, and a proactive approach to problem-solving are essential qualities we are looking for in candidates. Demonstrated experience with internal controls, flexibility, and comfort with changing requirements will be advantageous. Preferred qualifications include holding a CPA/CA or similar qualification, experience working with Oracle Suite, familiarity with Hubble and SQL, and proficiency in Analytical Tools such as Power BI, Tableau, KNIME, Python, or Alteryx. In terms of in-office expectations, Stripes in most locations are currently expected to spend at least 50% of their time in their local office or with users. This requirement may vary based on role, team, and location. For instance, Stripes in certain roles in Mexico City, Mexico, and Bengaluru, India work 100% from the office. Some teams may have higher in-office attendance requirements to adequately support users and workflows, a topic that will be discussed by the hiring manager.
