Job Description

Job Summary:

The HVAC Plant Operator is responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), and refrigeration systems within a central plant or facility. The role ensures optimal environmental conditions and energy efficiency through preventive maintenance and real-time system monitoring.

Qualification:

12th, Technical School or Trade Certification in HVAC or Mechanical Systems Preferred.
Valid HVAC Technician License (If required by Local Jurisdiction).

Preferred Qualification:

EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification.
Experience in large-scale central plant operations.
Knowledge of energy management and sustainability practices.

Experience:

Minimum 3 years of experience in HVAC system operation and maintenance.

Knowledge of building automation systems (e.g., Siemens, Johnson Controls, Trane).

Familiarity with mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.

Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and on-call hours as needed.

Job Description:

Operate and monitor HVAC equipment such as chillers, boilers, cooling towers, air handling units, pumps, and control systems.

Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on all HVAC systems.

Identify and troubleshoot issues in mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems.

Adjust and calibrate equipment to maintain desired environmental conditions.

Record data such as temperature, pressure, and flow rates for system logs and reporting.

Respond promptly to emergency calls and system alarms.

Collaborate with maintenance and engineering staff to support plant operations.

Comply with all safety and environmental regulations.

Maintain accurate records of equipment operation, maintenance, and repairs.

Recommend system upgrades or replacements when necessary.

Support energy management initiatives and sustainability practices.
