Welder/Fabricator

The job description of an MIG & ARC welder includes:

1) Welding ARC: Use arc-welding equipment to join metal components together. Welders may use a variety of welding processes, such as gas metal arc welding (GMAW), shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), and flux-cored arc welding (FCAW).

2) Welding MIG: Selecting, measuring, cutting, and joining appropriate metals to specifications.

3) Preparing: Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and sketches. Cut and prepare metal to the required shapes.

4) Inspecting: Inspect materials and structures before welding. Examine welds for bead size and assess their quality.

5) Repairing: Diagnose problems and repair broken parts.

6) Assembling: Assemble component parts using hand tools or small power tools.

7) Transport: Operating cranes and other machinery to transport materials to welding worksites.

8) Safety: Follow safety regulations and wear the correct safety gear. Identify hazards and defects, and ensure compliance with health and safety standards.

9) Maintaining: Clean and maintain equipment and tools. Keep the work area clean.

10) Organizing: Organize supplies, materials, and equipment.
