Web Engineer II

Role Overview: As a Web Engineer II - Apply and Buy Digital Apps at Synchrony, you will be responsible for developing and supporting web-based digital applications and delivering high-quality solutions. You will play a key role in a major technology transformation initiative towards a cloud platform in microservices architecture using Spring Frameworks, in-memory data grid, micro-front ends, and responsive design. Key Responsibilities: - Build new web solutions/platforms and enhancements in collaboration with requirements analysts, testers, and customers in an agile development practice - Develop functional and technical specifications based on business requirements - Develop mission-critical web applications/services - Assist in creating project estimates, plans, and represent the engineering team in project meetings and solution discussions - Ensure application quality, performance requirements adherence, and documentation - Implement code reuse, refactoring, and design patterns standards compliance - Ensure internally developed applications meet high standards of availability, scalability, and extensibility - Collaborate with Synchrony resources and vendor technical engineers - Define measurable goals for the team and communicate project status to stakeholders and leadership - Stay updated on emerging technologies while maintaining proficiency in existing technologies Qualifications Required: - Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field with 2+ years of experience in Technology and Software Development using Java, Spring, or 4+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree - Minimum 2 years of experience in Information Technology - Hands-on experience in Java and front-end technologies such as Spring, React - Experience with Micro-Front end is advantageous - Exposure to AWS is a plus - Familiarity with CI/CD technologies - Good understanding of SQL/No SQL databases - Proficiency in SDLC processes (Agile) and release management - Willingness to work flexible shift timings for emergency responses - Strong oral and written communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills Additional Company Details: Synchrony is a premier consumer financial services company with a focus on employee well-being, career advancement, and technological excellence.
