As an AVP, Web Engineer III - Apply Buy Digital at Synchrony, you will be responsible for the development and support of Web-based digital applications, ensuring the delivery of high-quality solutions. You will play a crucial role in a major technology transformation initiative aimed at transitioning towards a cloud platform in microservices architecture using Spring Frameworks, in-memory data grid, micro-front ends, and responsive design. Your key responsibilities will include building new web solutions/platforms and enhancements in collaboration with requirements analysts, testers, and customers within an agile development practice. You will be involved in creating project estimates and plans, representing the engineering team in project meetings and solution discussions, and ensuring application quality and performance adherence. Additionally, you will work towards maintaining internally developed applications with high standards of availability, scalability, and extensibility. Collaboration will be a key aspect of your role as you work closely with a team of experienced resources from both Synchrony and vendor technical engineers. Communication of project statuses and initiatives to stakeholders and leadership, conducting code reviews, collaborating with vendors, and operating cross-functionally across different teams to drive project success will be part of your daily routine. To excel in this role, you should possess a Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field with modern application development experience, with a minimum of 4+ years of experience in Technology and Software Development using Java, Spring, and React. Alternatively, 6+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree will also be considered. Hands-on experience in Java, front-end technologies including frameworks like Spring and React, Micro-Front end, exposure to AWS, and familiarity with CI/CD technologies are highly desirable. A good understanding of SQL/No SQL, SDLC processes (Agile), release management processes, and the ability to work flexibly with shift timings are also required. Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills in both production and non-production environments, coupled with excellent oral and written communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills are essential for this role.
