Strategy Team Member Engineering & Finance Location : Pune Department : Corporate Strategy Reporting To : Chief Strategy Officer Job Summary : Walchandnagar Industries is seeking a highly motivated and analytically adept Strategy Team Member with a dual background in Mechanical Engineering and Finance (CA or MBA Finance) to join its Corporate Strategy team. The ideal candidate will contribute to high-impact strategic initiatives by combining technical engineering insights with deep financial analysis. This hybrid role bridges operations and finance, ensuring business decisions are data-backed, cost-efficient, and aligned with long-term corporate goals. The candidate will play a critical role in capital allocation, financial modeling, business analytics, investment evaluation, and supporting transformation projects across business units. Key Responsibilities: Partner with leadership and department heads to develop business strategies, annual operating plans (AOPs), and long-term investment roadmaps. Conduct integrated financial and operational analysis on existing and proposed projects (ROI, NPV, IRR, Payback). Support capital expenditure planning, budgeting, and tracking mechanisms for large-scale initiatives. Evaluate business diversification opportunities, pricing models, product profitability, and breakeven studies. Lead data gathering from engineering and finance functions to build dynamic forecasting models and dashboards. Assist in working capital optimization, margin enhancement projects, and asset utilization studies. Prepare board-level reports, strategy documents, and financial presentations. Support mergers, acquisitions, JV, and strategic partnership evaluation through due diligence and synergy assessments. Monitor market trends, customer behavior, input cost changes, and competitive moves impacting financial performance. Coordinate with legal, tax, and risk functions during strategic transactions. Drive cost transformation and zero-based budgeting reviews across cost centers. Actively contribute to SAP/ERP financial module upgrades, business analytics tool implementation (Power BI/Tableau), and finance digitization projects. Qualifications & Experience: B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering (preferred) with either Chartered Accountant (CA) certification or MBA in Finance from a reputed institute (mandatory). 46 years of combined experience in corporate strategy, FP&A, business finance, or operations analytics within a manufacturing, EPC, or capital goods industry. Solid understanding of costing, financial reporting, budgeting, and Capex control. Proficiency in financial modeling, advanced Excel, PowerPoint, and reporting automation. Experience with SAP FICO module, ERP integration, or Power BI/Tableau dash boarding is highly desirable. Prior exposure to cost transformation, pricing analysis, and investment evaluation. Excellent analytical thinking, attention to detail, and ability to communicate across functions. Ability to multitask, work with ambiguity, and manage deliverables in a fast-paced environment. Strong business acumen and stakeholder management capabilities. Willingness to travel occasionally to project sites and plant locations as part of strategic reviews.
