Role & responsibilities The Senior Accounts Officer will be responsible for managing the financial systems of VOICE 4 Girls, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and donor requirements, and providing strategic financial insights to support decision-making. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with strong accounting expertise, experience in NGO financial management, and the ability to oversee multiple donor-funded projects simultaneously. Key Responsibilities 1. Financial Management & Accounting Maintain accurate and timely books of accounts, ledgers, and reconciliations. Oversee day-to-day financial transactions including vouchers, receipts, payments, and journal entries. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for management review. Monitor budget utilization and ensure effective financial controls across projects. Coordinate with the Banks for smoother processing of payments. 2. Budgeting and Donor Fund Management Develop annual organizational and program budgets in collaboration with leadership and program teams. Track donor disbursements and project-wise expenditures as per grant agreements. Prepare and submit donor financial reports with accuracy and timeliness. Support proposal development with realistic and compliant financial planning. 3. Compliance & Audit Ensure compliance with FCRA, Income Tax, TDS, PF, ESI, and other statutory regulations. Assist in the filing of statutory returns including FCRA annual returns, TDS, Income tax returns and other filings. Coordinate with internal, statutory, and donor auditors; prepare audit schedules and reconciliations. Ensure compliance with the internal financial controls, to safeguard organizational resources. 4. Payroll and Employee Benefits Manage monthly payroll processing, including statutory deductions (PF, ESI, TDS, PT). Maintain records of employee advances, loans, reimbursements, and settlements. Ensure timely disbursement of salaries and staff benefits. Preparation and issuance of monthly payslips, Form 16 and other relevant documents to staff/consultants. 5. Systems, Processes and Support Maintain proper documentation and filing of financial records (physical and digital). Improve efficiency of accounting systems and financial reporting processes. Train and support program/field teams on financial compliance and reporting requirements. Serve as a financial liaison with banks, auditors, donors, and government agencies. Preferred candidate profile Qualifications and Experience Bachelors/Master’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or related field. Minimum 5 years of accounts/finance experience, with at least 3 years in an NGO or donor-funded project environment Strong knowledge of FCRA, Income Tax, TDS, PF, PT and other NGO compliances. Proficiency in Tally Prime, MS Excel, and financial reporting tools. Experience in handling multi-donor reporting and audits. Skills and Competencies Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills. Excellent knowledge of accounting principles and financial management. Attention to detail with high standards of accuracy. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
