VMC/CNC Operator

• Operate and manage Computerised Numerical Control (CNC) and Vertical Machining Centre (VMC) machines efficiently and safely.

• Perform manual and 2D programming for CNC and VMC machines to produce high-quality components.

• Set up machines, including tooling, workholding devices, and cutting parameters, to ensure optimal performance.

• Monitor machining processes, make necessary adjustments, and troubleshoot issues as they arise.

• Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions to produce parts to specification.

• Perform regular maintenance on CNC and VMC machines, including cleaning, lubrication, and basic repairs.

• Conduct quality control checks using precision measuring instruments to ensure parts meet required tolerances.

• Operate CNC lathes when required, demonstrating versatility in machining operations.

• Maintain accurate records of production data, machine performance, and maintenance activities using data entry skills and software such as Excel and Word.

• Adhere to 5S principles and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the workshop.

• Perform tool grinding and management to maintain optimal cutting performance.

• Strictly follow all safety measures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.

• Work collaboratively as part of a team, supporting colleagues and contributing to a positive work environment.

• Demonstrate knowledge of mould materials and their properties, including the importance of hardness in various applications.

• Participate in training sessions and stay updated with the latest CNC and VMC technologies and industry best practices.
