Video Editor

As a Film and Video Editor, your primary responsibility will be to bring sight and sound together effectively to narrate a cohesive story. You will work on manipulating and editing film pieces with precision, ensuring that the editing process remains seamless and imperceptible to the audience. Understanding the production team's requirements and specifications will be crucial, and you will be expected to review shooting scripts and raw footage to create a shot decision list based on scene value and continuity contribution. Your duties will also include trimming footage segments, arranging the sequence of the film, and incorporating music, dialogues, graphics, and effects to produce rough and final cuts. It will be essential to maintain logical sequencing and ensure smooth transitions throughout the film. Collaboration with stakeholders across the production and post-production stages is vital, and you will be encouraged to stay updated on the latest editing technologies and industry best practices to enhance efficiency continually. The ideal candidate for this role should have proven work experience as a Video Editor, along with a solid grasp of digital technology and editing software packages. A demonstrable ability in video editing showcased through a strong portfolio is necessary. Proficiency in timing, motivation, and continuity is expected, and familiarity with special effects, 3D elements, and compositing will be advantageous. A creative mindset, storytelling skills, and a degree in film studies, cinematography, or a related field are preferred qualifications.
