Senior Civil Engineer – Railway Infrastructure Projects Location: Kerala Educational Qualification: B.E. / B.Tech in Civil Engineering (Mandatory) Experience Required: Minimum 10 years of post-qualification experience in Civil Engineering, with at least 8 years in Indian Railway or Metro Rail projects. Hands-on experience across multiple domains such as Earthwork, Bridges, Track Formation, Station Buildings, Retaining Structures, Drainage Works, Protective Works, and Allied Civil Structures. Key Responsibilities: Supervise and coordinate civil engineering works related to Railway Track, Formation, Bridges, Buildings, and Yards . Prepare and review GADs, detailed drawings, bar bending schedules, and construction methodology as per RDSO / IRPWM / IRS specifications . Ensure quality assurance and adherence to Indian Railway codes, IS codes, RDSO guidelines, and MoR standards. Plan and monitor project execution to achieve targeted timelines, quality, and safety . Conduct technical evaluation of materials, mix designs, and test results (e.g., concrete, aggregates, reinforcement, soil). Coordinate with Railway officials, Consultants, and Contractors for approvals, inspections, and work certification. Verify BOQs, estimates, and tender documents , and assist in cost analysis and value engineering. Manage and guide site engineers and survey teams for earthwork, alignment setting, and level control . Ensure proper documentation, DPR preparation, and progress reporting as per Railway contract requirements. Identify and mitigate potential technical risks, site constraints, or design discrepancies. Promote a culture of safety, compliance, and quality excellence at site. Technical Competencies: Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D , and other engineering tools. Strong understanding of track geometry, formation design, and bridge foundations . Familiarity with railway contracts, tender documentation, measurement books, and billing procedures. Sound knowledge of IS codes , IRC , IRS , RDSO Manuals , IRPWM , and NBC standards . Experience in execution of major bridges, minor bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and station structures . Understanding of surveying instruments (Total Station, Auto Level, GPS) and quality control testing . Behavioral Competencies: Excellent leadership and team coordination skills. Strong analytical and decision-making ability. Good written and verbal communication in English and Hindi (knowledge of regional languages is an advantage). Ability to multitask and deliver under tight project schedules. High degree of ownership and integrity. Preferred Exposure: Doubling, gauge conversion, or new line railway projects. Foundation and substructure design experience (Open / Well / Pile). Working under traffic blocks and live railway conditions. Liaison with Railway Divisions, Construction Units, RITES, RVNL, IRCON, DFCCIL, or Metro Rail agencies. Other Requirements: Willing to travel and be stationed at remote project sites.
