As a software engineer at Google Cloud, you will play a crucial role in developing cutting-edge technologies that revolutionize how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information. We are seeking individuals with a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience, along with a minimum of 8 years of software development experience, including leading software projects and creating large-scale web applications. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects spanning various domains such as information retrieval, distributed computing, system design, networking, data storage, security, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, UI design, and mobile technologies. You will be tasked with working on projects critical to Google Cloud's success, with the flexibility to transition between teams and projects as the business continues to evolve. A successful candidate will demonstrate proficiency in two or more general-purpose programming languages, including front-end and back-end languages. Additionally, experience with cloud databases, both Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) and NoSQL, and the ability to evaluate trade-offs between them will be advantageous. Collaborative skills are essential, as you will be working closely with UX designers, researchers, product managers, and other engineering teams to enhance user experiences and drive product innovation. Responsibilities of this role include identifying and implementing improvements to a shared codebase, designing and launching features with high product and technical quality, developing large-scale user-facing applications, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to steer product direction.
