Dispatchers also monitor situations through phone or radio communication and utilize mapping software to determine optimal routes. Tracking the locations of mobile units, providing precise logistics for drivers, coordinating delivery times, and preparing work orders are all tasks that fall under the purview of a dispatcher. Additionally, dispatchers are responsible for preparing daily work schedules and dispatching personnel to appropriate calls, which may involve police officers, ambulances, fire services, public works, utilities departments, and electric companies. In certain industries, such as electric utilities, construction, telecommunications, and transportation, dispatchers may also be tasked with managing personnel.
