Job Title: Principal Associate – Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Location: Chennai Experience Required: Minimum 5+ years in IPR Department: Legal / Intellectual Property Reports To: Partner / Senior Partner Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Associate to lead and manage key IP-related matters including prosecution, litigation, and advisory services. The ideal candidate will have in-depth expertise in both Indian and international IP laws, a client-centric approach, and the ability to guide a team of associates and interns. Key Responsibilities: Handle end-to-end IPR matters including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and designs . Advise clients on IP strategy, protection, enforcement , and commercialization . Draft, review, and file IP applications (national & international), oppositions, assignments, and licensing agreements. Represent clients in IPR litigation and enforcement actions, including appearing before IPO, IPAB, and courts. Conduct IP due diligence , freedom to operate (FTO) , and infringement analysis . Liaise with external counsels, authorities, and international associates for cross-border IP matters. Lead and mentor junior team members, ensuring knowledge development and quality delivery. Stay updated with emerging trends , legal amendments, and case laws related to IPR. Key Requirements: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Law (LL.B / LL.M). Registered Patent Agent is a plus. Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience in IP law, preferably in a law firm or in-house legal team. Strong legal drafting, analytical, and research skills. Excellent communication, leadership, and client-handling abilities. Proven track record in managing complex IPR portfolios and high-stakes litigation.
