Trade Surveillance Engineering Lead

About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Trade Surveillance Engineering Lead to design, build, and manage next-generation trade surveillance systems. This individual will lead a team of engineers to develop scalable, high-performance solutions to detect and monitor market abuse, insider trading, and regulatory breaches across asset classes. The ideal candidate will combine deep knowledge of trade surveillance platforms with strong engineering leadership to deliver innovative, compliant, and efficient solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years experience in software engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
• Strong background in capital markets, trade surveillance, and regulatory compliance.
• Hands-on expertise with large-scale distributed systems and data pipelines.
• Experience with surveillance tools (Actimize, SMARTS, Scila, etc.) is a plus.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
  

Key Responsibilities

Lead the design, development, and maintenance of trade surveillance systems and workflows.Collaborate with compliance, risk, and business stakeholders to understand surveillance requirements and translate them into technical solutions.Architect scalable data ingestion, transformation, and alerting systems for large volumes of trade data across multiple markets and asset classes.Drive implementation of advanced analytics, anomaly detection, and machine learning models to improve surveillance effectiveness.Ensure systems comply with global regulatory requirements (e.g., MAR, MiFID II, Dodd-Frank).Manage and mentor a team of engineers, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.Oversee vendor integrations (e.g., NICE Actimize, Nasdaq SMARTS, or other surveillance tools) and internal build solutions.Implement robust monitoring, testing, and incident management processes.Partner with information security and infrastructure teams to maintain data privacy and system resilience.
