Job Description: TGT Social Science Teacher

Position Overview

The Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) in Social Science is responsible for teaching History, Geography, Civics, and Economics to middle and secondary school students (Classes VI–X). The role emphasizes developing awareness of society, culture, environment, and civic responsibility while nurturing analytical and critical thinking skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Curriculum Delivery
• Teach Social Science subjects as per CBSE Board curriculum.
• Prepare lesson plans, teaching materials, and interactive activities.
• Integrate maps, charts, case studies, and real-world examples into lessons.
• Student Engagement
• Encourage discussions, debates, and project-based learning.
• Organize field trips, exhibitions, and cultural activities to enhance experiential learning.
• Provide individual support to students needing academic assistance.
• Assessment & Evaluation
• Design and evaluate tests, assignments, and projects.
• Provide constructive feedback to students and parents.
• Maintain accurate records of student performance.
• Classroom & Resource Management
• Create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
• Ensure effective use of teaching aids, digital tools, and library resources.
• Promote values of citizenship, diversity, and social responsibility.
• Professional Development
• Stay updated with modern teaching practices and current socio-political developments.
• Participate in workshops, training sessions, and school events.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science (History/Geography/Political Science/Economics or related discipline).
• B.Ed. (Bachelor of Education) is mandatory.
• CTET/STET qualification preferred (depending on board requirements).
• Prior teaching experience in middle/secondary school is desirable.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong subject knowledge across History, Geography, Civics, and Economics.
• Ability to simplify complex concepts and make them relatable.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Classroom management and student mentoring abilities.
• Proficiency in using smart boards, digital tools, and online teaching platforms.
