Job Description Position: Chemical Management Officer/Executive Location: Hindupur, Andhra Pradesh Department: Sustainability / EHS / Production Support Reporting to: GM Sustainability / Unit Head Job Purpose: To oversee and manage the safe procurement, handling, storage, usage, and disposal of chemicals within the textile mill, ensuring full compliance with local regulations, customer standards, and company policies on chemical management and sustainability initiatives. Key Responsibilities: Implement and maintain an effective Chemical Management System (CMS) in accordance with ZDHC, GOTS, Oeko-Tex, and other customer-specific guidelines. Ensure safe storage, labeling, and segregation of chemicals as per MSDS and regulatory requirements. Maintain and regularly update Chemical Inventory Records with accurate data on quantities, shelf life, and safety classifications. Conduct chemical risk assessments for all processes and operations involving chemicals. Ensure availability and regular updating of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for all chemicals on-site. Implement and monitor chemical handling procedures, including PPE usage and emergency response protocols. Organize chemical safety trainings and awareness programs for shop floor and related staff. Liaise with procurement and vendors to source ZDHC-approved and compliant chemicals. Facilitate internal audits, third-party inspections, and customer audits related to chemical management. Ensure proper chemical waste management and disposal as per regulatory guidelines. Track and report on chemical consumption trends and sustainability metrics. Support implementation of ZDHC Gateway uploading, if applicable. Maintain chemical emergency preparedness (spill kits, fire extinguishers, safety showers, etc.) Identify and implement more effective, efficient, and environmentally friendly chemical solutions, improving overall production processes. Qualifications: Graduate/Diploma in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Textile Technology, or related field. Minimum 2-5 years of relevant experience in chemical management within the textile or process industry. Working knowledge of ZDHC, GOTS, Oeko-Tex, REACH, and Indian chemical safety regulations. Familiarity with EHS standards, MSDS interpretation, and chemical risk assessment practices. Skills Required: Strong attention to detail and documentation. Good communication and training skills. Ability to coordinate with multiple departments. Sound knowledge of chemical handling protocols and safety standards. Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel for inventory and reporting.
