Job Description

Purpose of the role

To design, develop, and execute testing strategies to validate functionality, performance, and user experience, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve defects, and continuously improve testing processes and methodologies, to ensure software quality and reliability. 

Accountabilities

  • Development and implementation of comprehensive test plans and strategies to validate software functionality and ensure compliance with established quality standards.
  • Creation and execution automated test scripts, leveraging testing frameworks and tools to facilitate early detection of defects and quality issues.  .
  • Collaboration with cross-functional teams to analyse requirements, participate in design discussions, and contribute to the development of acceptance criteria, ensuring a thorough understanding of the software being tested.
  • Root cause analysis for identified defects, working closely with developers to provide detailed information and support defect resolution.
  • Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations, and actively contribute to the organization's technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.

To be successful as an Test Engineer you should have experience with:

  • Ab Initio GDE (Graphical Development Environment) for graph analysis and testing
  • Co>Operating System for job execution monitoring and performance testing
  • EME (Enterprise Meta Environment) for metadata validation
  • DML scripting for custom data validation and test automation
  • Payment & Acquiring business domain knowledge with focus on financial data flows
  • Strong experience in ETL QA methodologies - both manual validation and automated testing
  • Data quality testing including completeness, accuracy, and consistency validation
  • Source-to-target mapping verification and data lineage testing
  • Advanced SQL skills for database validation and data comparison
  • Unix/Linux shell scripting for test automation and file processing
  • Performance testing of large-volume financial datasets
  • Mainframe integration testing with Ab Initio systems
  • Ability to manage multiple Ab Initio testing projects simultaneously
  • Strong analytical capability for complex data transformation validation
  • ETL test estimation, strategy creation, and planning expertise
  • Excellent communication skills for global stakeholder engagement
  • Strong experience in Agile methodology for iterative ETL development
  • Test metrics and reporting for Ab Initio pipeline performance
  • Experience with CI/CD integration for Ab Initio deployments

Some other highly valued skills may include:

  • Ab Initio certification or advanced training
  • Experience with Ab Initio Conduct>It for data quality rules
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance testing for financial data
  • Integration testing with downstream systems and data warehouses

This role is based in Pune.
