Junior Test Engineer Roles & Responsibilities

Job Title: Test Engineer
Job Level: L1-L3 Work Location: Coimbatore Department: Quality Experience: Overall 3 to 7 years of experience in software testing Core Responsibilities: 1. Integrating with the business and development team to provide efficient manual and automated testing throughout the entire software product lifecycle. 2. Accept, analyse and understand the requirements, prepare the test plan, test cases and track the execution efficiently. 3. Identify and prioritize test conditions addressing product risks and features to be tested; 4. Identify necessary test data to support test conditions and test cases. 5. Analyse actual results against the expected ones. 6. Validate data integrity, CRUD operations, and schema compliance. 7. Test stored procedures, triggers, and functions for business logic. 8. Perform joins testing (INNER, LEFT, RIGHT, FULL) for correct relationships and data accuracy. 9. Check join performance, null handling, and index usage. 10. Validate ETL processes, data migration, and consistency across systems. 11. Participate in the technical review process contributing behavioural viewpoint. 12. Reporting defects and providing progress reports-status during the testing cycle. 13. Work collaboratively with different teams, business analysts, designers, developers, architects and testers to develop and automate integration and regression tests. 14. Ability to set up/managing QA environments, debugging problems and ensuring builds are kept to high- quality standards. 15. Setting up of suitable automation framework, writing and developing the test scripts. 16. In addition to automation, perform manual exploratory system and regression testing in all environments, across multiple products and operating systems during different releases for different stake holders. 17. Working towards increasing the scope of the automation suite by analysing bug data, and writing neat, optimized test code. Additional Responsibilities: 1. Learning & Knowledge sharing 2. Test case, test tracking tools 2. Database testing - Working with queries to validate the scenarios. 3. API testing Postman, SOAPUI Knowledge of Tools 1. Knowledge of C#/ Java code 2. Knowledge in code versioning tools like Git\ TFS\ Bit Bucket, etc. Soft Skills 1. Ability to communicate clearly with both business and technical teams and be able to present to senior stakeholders 2. Excellent English verbal and written communication skills 3. Strong logical, analytical, and problem-solving skills 4. The candidate should be Highly Motivated and a Self-Starter at work 5. Identify & refers prospective candidates 6. Takes professional ethics such as punctuality, dress-code, meetings very seriously 7. Identifies and proposes alternative ways of solving a business problem 8.
