Description
As a CSSD Technician at our hospital located in Pune, Maharashtra, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the cleanliness, functionality, and sterility of surgical instruments and medical equipment. You will play a crucial role in various processes within the Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD) to support the hospital's infection control practices and patient safety. Decontamination: - You will receive, sort, and clean contaminated surgical instruments and medical equipment from different hospital departments. - Performing both manual and mechanical cleaning using appropriate detergents, multi-enzyme solutions, ultrasonic cleaners, and washer-disinfectors will be part of your daily tasks. - It is essential to strictly adhere to established protocols and manufacturer's instructions while operating and monitoring decontamination equipment. Inspection, Assembly, and Packaging: - Your duties will include inspecting all instruments for cleanliness, proper function, and integrity, as well as performing function testing of devices. - Assembling instrument sets and trays according to predefined checklists will be crucial, ensuring all components are present and correctly arranged. - You will also be responsible for selecting appropriate packaging materials and techniques for each item to maintain sterility and labeling packages accurately. Sterilization: - Loading and operating various sterilization equipment, including high-temperature sterilizers and low-temperature sterilizers, according to established cycles and manufacturer guidelines will be part of your routine. - Performing daily biological and chemical indicator tests to monitor the efficiency and effectiveness of sterilizers is essential. - You will maintain accurate records of all sterilization cycles and report any sterilization failures or equipment malfunctions promptly. Sterile Storage and Distribution: - Upon successful completion of sterilization cycles, you will receive sterile materials and store them in designated sterile storage areas under optimal environmental conditions. - Efficiently distributing sterile instruments and supplies to user departments as per demand will be part of your responsibilities. - Proper inventory rotation to minimize expiration of sterile supplies will be essential. Documentation and Quality Assurance: - Maintaining meticulous records of all decontamination, sterilization, and distribution processes and adhering strictly to hospital policies, procedures, and national/international standards are critical. - Participating in quality assurance activities, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives within the CSSD, and identifying/reporting any non-compliance issues are vital aspects of your role. Safety and Maintenance: - Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, performing routine cleaning and maintenance of CSSD equipment and department area, and reporting any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards are essential for maintaining a safe working environment. Collaboration and Communication: - Effective collaboration with medical staff, nursing staff, and other hospital departments to ensure timely availability of sterile supplies, clear and professional communication with colleagues and healthcare professionals, and participation in departmental meetings and in-service education programs are key components of your job.
