Job Description

As a Technical Writer 3 at Hyland Software, you will play a crucial role in creating and maintaining software documentation for company products. Your responsibilities will include: - Working in collaboration with global Engineering and Product Management teams to create clear, concise, and accurate documentation using DITA structured writing technologies and principles in a fast-paced continuous delivery environment. - Writing documentation for usage, configuration, and installation of user interfaces and collaborating with Engineering teams to maintain API documentation. - Researching, using, and building knowledge about products, services, technology, or concepts to be documented. - Creating documentation for new and moderately complex products, as well as updating and editing existing product documentation to reflect changes to more advanced software. - Meeting with subject matter experts, attending relevant meetings, and collaborating with R&D colleagues to ensure that documentation is accurate. - Ensuring software is functioning as expected and escalating identified bugs, software design, and usability issues to the appropriate R&D stakeholders for resolution. - Actively participating in discussions regarding product direction and design, and proactively seeking information about product development to anticipate and prepare for upcoming software changes. - Identifying and troubleshooting issues with files in the authoring environment and resolving them with some assistance from documentation leadership. - Using experience to make informed decisions that improve the quality, layout, and overall functionality of assigned documentation. - Performing advanced technical tasks as determined in collaboration with documentation team management. - Complying with all corporate and departmental privacy and data security policies and practices. Qualifications required for success in this role include: - Bachelor's degree, preferably in English or Technical Communication. - 5+ years of Technical Writing Experience. - Strong English writing skills, a learner's mindset, and an aptitude for technology. - Working experience writing concise, grammatically correct, technical documentation. - Working experience with desktop authoring and publishing tools required for the job and the ability to quickly learn additional tools. - Strong technical aptitude and writing skill. - Good interpersonal, decision-making, oral and written communication, editing, collaboration, and attention to detail skills. - Strong ability to install, use, configure, and troubleshoot software.
