Technical Supervisor - Blood Bank

As a Blood Bank Technician, you will be a knowledgeable and skilled resource in various department areas of the Blood Bank. Your key responsibilities include: - Perform high complexity testing in the Blood Bank department, serving as a resource to co-workers - Collect, label, and prepare blood, plasma, and other components for transfusions - Interact with the public to conduct interviews and test samples for potential donors - Properly store blood draws and maintain documents and records - Take over from previous shift technicians, ensuring blood bags stock, reagents stock, blood stock record, and other necessary records are in order - Check and maintain temperature graphs and equipment/instruments before testing - Perform various tests including HBsAg, HCV, HIV, VDRL, MP tests, and more as instructed - Receive blood samples for grouping and cross-matching, separate serum/plasma for testing, and detect antibodies in blood - Collaborate with clinicians and other healthcare professionals on complex patients for reliable testing results - Develop and perform validations, quality control, maintenance, and competencies for instruments and methodologies - Create new procedures for equipment and testing methodologies, update existing policies and procedures as needed - Coordinate with regulatory agencies and serve as a contact for the Blood Bank - Develop and maintain the Blood Bank Quality Assurance Program and proficiency testing programs - Train Blood Bank technicians, arrange blood donation camps, manage blood components inventory, and more - Coordinate apheresis procedures, maintain donor databases, prepare statistics, manage duty rosters, and handle any blood test-related discrepancies - Assist the Blood Bank Medical Officer in daily tasks and promote the sale of in-house blood components Qualifications: - B.Sc MLT/DMLT & PUC Must-have skills: - Team management - SDP - APH Good-to-have skills: - Communication skills By following these responsibilities and qualifications, you will contribute to the efficient and successful operation of the Blood Bank department.,
