Description
Highly skilled Appian Developer with hands-on experience in Appian BPM / Low-Code Development within the Healthcare Payer industry. This role focuses on designing, developing, and optimizing Appian-based workflow automation, case management, and member/provider service processes, integrated with .NET and Azure-based enterprise systems. The ideal candidate combines Appian development expertise with business process understanding in healthcare payer operations such as claims management, utilization management, provider onboarding, and member servicing. Design, develop, and implement Appian BPM applications including process models, records, interfaces, reports, and custom data types (CDTs). Build and maintain low-code automation workflows for healthcare payer functions (claims, authorizations, appeals, enrollments, etc.). Develop Appian SAIL interfaces for responsive and user-friendly UI experiences. Create and optimize Appian expressions, process models, decision rules, and record types. Ensure code quality and maintainability through best practices, peer reviews, and performance tuning. Configure Appian plug-ins, smart services, and connected systems to enhance functionality Integrate Appian applications with external systems such as .NET microservices, Azure API Management, FHIR/HL7 APIs, Snowflake data stores, and enterprise service buses (ESB). Implement RESTful and SOAP-based web service calls within Appian. Support document generation, workflow triggers, and notifications through integration with Azure Logic Apps, Service Bus, and Appian RPA bots. Collaborate with integration teams to ensure secure data exchange compliant with HIPAA standards. Develop Appian Connected Systems to interface with payer core systems (Facets, QNXT, Epic Tapestry, etc.) where applicable. Collaborate with business analysts and process owners to translate business process requirements into Appian solutions. Implement case management and task orchestration workflows to streamline manual payer operations. Support document workflows such as prior authorization requests, claims reviews, provider updates, and member correspondence. Utilize Appian RPA and AI services to automate repetitive data entry and decisioning steps. Participate in process re-engineering to improve efficiency, compliance, and auditability. Technical Experience
4+ years of hands-on experience with Appian BPM platform (v21.x or later). Proficient in building: SAIL UIs, Process Models, Records, Reports, CDTs, and Integrations Appian Expressions, Decision Rules, and Smart Services Strong knowledge of Appian Data Management, Query Rules, and Interface Design. Experience developing Appian plug-ins using Java or Appian SDK (preferred). Knowledge of Appian RPA, IDP, and AI-driven workflows is a plus. Programming / Integration: RESTful APIs, JSON, XML, SQL, Java, Python (optional). Backend Systems: Familiarity with .NET microservices, Azure Functions, and SQL Server / Snowflake backends. Database Skills: Proficiency in writing SQL queries, stored procedures, and performance optimization. DevOps Tools: Azure DevOps, Git, Jenkins, or similar CI/CD environments. Cloud: Azure PaaS services - API Management, Logic Apps, Key Vault, Blob Storage, App Service. Security & Compliance: HIPAA, PHI, and data masking principles.
